Alpine lifestyle, closeness to nature and a rural past
Life in the mountains has always influenced the culture of the valley
A population living in harmony with nature cultivates fields and farmland and keeps animals for self-sufficiency. A society shaped by the Christian religion needs places of worship. It becomes one with its habitat. And appreciates and cares for it with care. Well-preserved monuments such as churches and chapels bear witness to the religious heritage. Themed trails commemorate a pioneer of alpinism in Prague and beyond. Historic wild baths speak of the valley's past as a health resort.

Churches & Chapels
There are two main churches and eight chapels in the Braies Valley alone. The most spectacular place of construction is probably the chapel at Lake Braies, which was consecrated in 1904. The oldest, however, is the parish church of St. Veit, which was consecrated in 1335. The church "Zum Leidenden Heiland" in Schmieden in Braies was built in 1735 on the foundations of a chapel dating back to 1690 and contains frescoes of historical value.
Theme trail Viktor Wolf Edler von Glanwell
Viktor Wolf Edler von Glanwell was a frequent guest in the Braies Valley, where he climbed over 60 peaks, ridges and walls, including the north face of the Seekofel and the south face of the Herrsteinturm south face as his first ascent. The path between the wild bath Neuprags and the Braies lake is named after the famous alpinist.
Altprags & Neuprags wild baths
The former inhabitants of the valley used the natural healing springs to prevent and treat various ailments. During their heyday, illustrious guests from near and far came to stay there and draw on the powers of nature. At the turn of the 20th century, the two baths slowly fell into disrepair and can now only be seen from the outside.
